ANANTARA KAFUE RIVER TENT CAMP

New to the vast Kafue National Park for 2025 is Anantara Kafue ​​River Tented Camp and as can be expected by this luxury hotel operator it is set to be one of, if not, the most opulent option for a safari in the Kafue.

We are delighted to see new properties and fresh investment coming to Kafue National Park. It is one of Africa's largest and most diverse national parks, covering an impressive area of approximately 22,400 square kilometres and given that it was established in 1924, it is Zambia's oldest national park. The park boasts a rich tapestry of ecosystems, including vast plains, dense woodlands, and lush wetlands. It is home to over 150 species of mammal and 500 species of birds. 

While we don't know all the details yet about this new lodge, we understand that it will have 12 luxury tented chalets including a vast 600-square metre Presidential Villa, all elevated 3.5 metres above the Kafue River. Activities will focus on game drives as well as boat cruises and an all-out luxury experience while you are in camp. Each room has its own private plunge pool as well as a wellness area with a swimming pool, a restaurant and bar, a lounge and a traditional African boma. 

Due to Kafue's size and its relative lack of protection as well as low tourism interest over a lot of its existence, certain areas have suffered from poaching and hunting. Efforts to conserve Kafue National Park's natural resources and wildlife are ongoing, with several initiatives aimed at protecting endangered species and preserving the park's diverse ecosystems. It now offers productive and varied wildlife viewing and the more interest from tourists in this area the more it provides funds to enable its resurgence. ​
