Bio:

Sandfontein is an exclusive-use lodge made up of six earthy suites/villas. While it can take a total group of 18, clever tiered pricing means that even for a couple it is not astronomical in price.

Located in the far south of Namibia, butting up against the Orange River, which forms the border with South Africa, getting here is not the easiest. But nothing good came from taking the easy route! Access is via Windhoek or Cape Town via a private charter flight, or, our recommendation would be to make a road trip of it and drive south from Windhoek or north from Cape Town.

Sat within a private reserve of 97,000 hectares this is one of the southern Africa's largest private reserves and it is yours to explore at will. Perhaps that is fishing or kayaking on the lodge's 25km of Orange River frontage, scenic nature drives, guided hikes or just enjoying the serenity of this untouched little corner of Namibia. As a verified acoustic escape designated by Quiet Parks International - one of the lodge's taglines is 'to hear yourself in the middle of nowhere'.

There are no age-limits here, no schedules and no set meal times. Each day is entirely tailored to your interests. Perhaps you want to hike across the reserve camping as you go or enjoy a celebratory dinner under a warm starry embrace, the lodge team are at your disposal to make your dreams a reality.

The experience lends itself to a longer stay, we can see it working as a stand-alone retreat for at least 5-7 nights or as part of wider trip to Namibia or the Western Cape of South Africa and staying here for 3-4 nights.
