Bio:
With an enviable location in a wildlife-rich area at the confluence of the Msandile and Luangwa rivers in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The entire experience at Painted Dog's Lagoon has been designed as an antidote to the sometimes rushed, fast-paced nature of modern safaris, where sometimes you can find yourself driving around the park from one sighting to another.
The lodge has just three rooms of two different styles. The Njobvu platform is the largest accommodation type, situated directly on the lagoon with daily visits from elephants and other wildlife it has been designed for friends and family staying together. It consists of two spacious luxury tents that share a comfortable lounge, dining area, and even a hot tub for ultimate bush relaxation. It can accommdate 4 to 8 guests.
The further two rooms are single tents more suitable for couples. They are named Chimbwete and Mimbulu, which in the local ChiChewa language are the words for zebra and wild dog respectively. Raised on wooden platforms these tents have direct views of the river for wildlife spotting and feature comfortable beds, outdoor showers and bathrooms
With experienced safari guide Victor Banda at the helm as senior safari guide he brings over 15 years of experience in the Luangwa valley to Painted Dog's Lagoon guiding team. With his help they have designed activities to showcase the best of the South Luangwa on game drives and walking safaris. They also encourage guests to take a more relaxed approach, perhaps enjoying wildlife viewing from the lodge from the infinity pool or central dining platform.
