Bio:

Kanana Nyana is set to open on the 15th of October 2026 in Botswana's Okavango Delta as the newest addition to Ker and Downey's portfolio of lodges and camps. We will update this page as more information is provided on the camp and with images as soon as they are released.

As with all the safari camps and lodges that we recommend we will endeavour to visit this camp for ourselves as soon as we can. However, we have no doubt that given Ker and Downey's experience and the quality of their other camps it will be another strong addition to the choice of luxury safari camps in Botswana.

The camp's name of Kanana Nyana means small in Botswana's local language Setswana. This luxury safari camp will only accommodate up to eight guests in four perfectly formed thatched safari suites. The current images show that while the camp is small the suites are very spacious and each suite will have its own plunge pool. We understand that in the main area along with a restaurant, lounge and central swimming pool there will also be a gym. This is something no often found at small camps in the Okavango Delta and very welcome to those who like to keep up with their fitness routine while on safari.

Kanana Nyana is located in the private NG27A Concession (Pom Pom Concession) in the southwest of the Okavango Delta. Once famous for its water activities, shifts in the tectonic plates underlying the Delta have resulted in more available dry land in this area and subsequently improved general wildlife viewing.  We now consider this to be one of the most consistent safari areas in all of the Okavango Delta. As well as game drives which can be done off-road and at night, walking safaris are possible as well as seasonal boat cruises and mokoro trips, depending on water-levels. We understand Kanana Nyana will join just a handful of other camps in Botswana using 4-seater vehicles - allowing for a more exclusive experience.

We would recommend at least three nights here combined with another part of the Okavango Delta, such as Kanana Nyana's sister property - Maxa Camp.
