Bio:

MmaTsebe opened in April 2024 in the Khwai area in a picturesque location nestled in riverine forest on the banks of the Mbudi River in Botswana.

It is an unfussy camp, designed to maximise a connection to the surrounding wilderness. The eight ensuite safari tents are Meru in design with windows throughout which can be rolled up to facilitate airflow on warm days. All tents also have fans in the rooms. The rooms can be made up as a doubles or twis and five mobile single beds are available and can be inserted to any of the tents to make up a triple. Only one additional bed per tent may be added.

The camp is just 30 minutes game-drive transfer from Khwai Airstrip and also only 30 minutes from the entrance to the Moremi Game Reserve, therefore activities will explore both the Khwai Community Concession and the Moremi. Game drives will form the bulk of the safari activities here, but traditional mokoro trips are also included as well as boat trips into the Moremi.

Khwai can be as productive as any concession in the Okavango Delta and over the years we've had some fantastic sightings here. However, it is worth mentioning that as a community concession it has different rules to the surrounding private concessions. There are more lodges in Khwai and as well as this self-drivers and mobile safaris are also allowed into the concession. It means that during peak season (July-October) and major holidays it can be busy. With a good guide fantastic sightings can still be found away from other vehicles but visitors should be prepared for more vehicles hence the more favourable price at camps in this area.
